A huge pity that this Test petered out to a draw. It was all set up beautifully after Chris Gayle smashed a glorious 165 not out in the West Indies second innings. His 11th Test century, first against Australia and interestingly, he was the first West Indian Test captain to carry his bat in an innings. His success was indicative of a turnaround in the fortunes of the West Indian side. They were a completely different team to that of the first test in Brisbane. They bowled and batted beautifully and played the whole Test with big, beaming smiles on their faces. For the hosts, frailties in the batting line-up must again be highlighted as for the second test in a row, no Aussie batsmen reached three figures.Sure, Shane Watson played across a straight one on the first innings for his test best 96 but aside of Simon Katich's 80 in that innings, the likes of Ponting, Hussey and North need to work hard before Perth next week.On the bowling front it was interesting to note that neither Hauritz nor Benn could extract significant turn on an ageing Adelaide wicket on days four and five.Mitchell Johnson bowled beautifully to record his fourth five wicket haul in tests and Doug Bollinger grabbed five scalps in just his second match. For the Windies Dwayne Bravo grabbed three important wickets to get the Australian nerves going on day five. Must mention again Kemar Roach who bowled quick and straight and kept going for long periods in the absence of Jerome Taylor. So Australia remain one up heading west to Perth for the final Test starting next Wednesday.
