Australia go one nil up in the five match series with a resounding 113 run victory. Despite Chris Gayle's prediction of a 4-1 series win, Australia cruised to victory at the MCG. Shane Watson and Ricky Ponting laid the foundations for a big score after Shaun Marsh's dismissal, however once they departed the Australia innings lost its momentum and they eventually finished on 8-256. In reply the early loss of Chris Gayle meant the odds were stacked against the West Indies. Kieron Pollard and Lendl Simmons put on 64 for the fifth wicket but that was as good as it got for the tourists as they collapsed from 4-108 to 143 all out.
